Exchange Rate Calculator

Decimal.js finance math

The result is calculated from the values entered. Currency conversion pages may request ECB reference rates; other pages calculate locally.

Result currency follows the selected target currency. Latest and historical modes require a successful ECB response; Manual mode uses only the rate you enter.
Rate inputs

ECB reference mode requests current ECB data. Other modes use the values entered in the form.

What the Exchange Rate Calculator does

The calculator focuses on rate analysis rather than only converting one amount.

How to use the Exchange Rate Calculator

Enter the assumptions, add rows where the page supports them, choose Calculate, then review the result card, detailed table, visual comparison and CSV export.

  • Currency changes display unless the tool is a currency converter.
  • Inputs stay in the browser except the optional ECB currency-rate request.
  • Results are deterministic estimates from the values entered.

Formula or calculation method

Direct rate = target amount / source amount. ECB cross rate = target per EUR / source per EUR. Inverse rate = 1 / direct rate. Spread percentage = (ask - bid) / midpoint x 100.

Variables

Direct rates, amount pairs, base quotes, bid, ask and fee fields can each drive part of the analysis.

Assumptions

Rate direction is always target per source.

Fees are subtracted from gross target amount.

ECB reference mode calculates only after a successful ECB response.

Calculation steps

Import an ECB reference rate or solve a direct/cross rate from entered values.

Calculate inverse rate.

Analyze bid/ask spread when entered.

Apply fees to estimate net received and effective rate.

Result interpretation

Use this page to inspect the rate itself, not as a promise of an executable exchange quote.

Worked examples

If 1 EUR = 1.10 USD and 1 EUR = 0.85 GBP, 1 USD = 0.772727 GBP and 1 GBP = 1.294118 USD.

For 1,000 USD at 0.85 EUR/USD with 2% plus 5 EUR fee, gross is 850 EUR, fees are 22 EUR and net is 828 EUR.

Limitations

The tool does not model provider settlement timing, unentered spreads or account-specific pricing.

ECB reference mode does not use placeholder fallback rates when provider data is unavailable.

Privacy and data handling

NexaCalc does not ask for account numbers, bank credentials, saved portfolios or authentication for these tools. Currency pages may request a public ECB reference-rate file from the server-side adapter.

Frequently asked questions

What is a direct exchange rate?

In this tool it is target currency units per one source currency unit.

What is a cross rate?

A cross rate derives one currency pair from two quotes against the same base currency.

Can this import ECB rates?

Yes. Choose Latest ECB reference rate mode. If ECB data is unavailable, the page shows an error instead of using a placeholder rate.

Is the Exchange Rate Calculator financial advice?

No. It is a deterministic calculator for education and planning, not financial, lending, employment, tax, investment or trading advice.

Does NexaCalc save my inputs?

No. The page does not create accounts or store debt, salary, budget, currency or stock inputs as saved plans.

Why can real-world results differ?

Actual agreements, rates, fees, dates, taxes, provider rules, payroll rules and market prices can differ from the simplified assumptions entered.

Can I export the result?

Yes. Pages with schedules or tables offer CSV export from the displayed calculation rows.

What precision does the calculator use?

The shared engine uses Decimal.js for financial math and rounds values only for display and export.

Are taxes included?

No. Phase 4 intentionally excludes income tax, capital-gains tax, withholding tax and jurisdiction-specific deductions.
