What the Dividend Yield Calculator does

The calculator estimates dividend yield, yield on cost, income and required shares from user-entered dividend assumptions.

How to use the Dividend Yield Calculator

Enter the assumptions, add rows where the page supports them, choose Calculate, then review the result card, detailed table, visual comparison and CSV export.

  • Currency changes display unless the tool is a currency converter.
  • Inputs stay in the browser except the optional ECB currency-rate request.
  • Results are deterministic estimates from the values entered.

Formula or calculation method

Dividend yield = annual dividend per share / current share price x 100. Required shares = target annual income / annual dividend per share.

Variables

Dividend per payment, payment frequency or annual dividend per share, current price, average purchase price and shares define the result.

Assumptions

Dividends are not guaranteed.

Special dividends are excluded unless entered by the user.

No live company data is fetched.

Calculation steps

Convert dividend per payment to annual dividend per share.

Calculate current yield and yield on cost.

Calculate annual and monthly average income.

Solve required shares for target income.

Result interpretation

Dividend yield is income relative to share price. It is not total return and does not describe price risk.

Worked examples

A 0.50 quarterly dividend equals 2.00 annually. At a 40 current price, current yield is 5%; with 25 average purchase price, yield on cost is 8%.

Limitations

The tool excludes dividend cuts, reinvestment plans, taxes, price changes and company-specific risks.

Privacy and data handling

NexaCalc does not ask for account numbers, bank credentials, saved portfolios or authentication for these tools. Currency pages may request a public ECB reference-rate file from the server-side adapter.
